Illustrious return to Babcock Rosyth for aircraft carrier

  • HMS Illustrious has returned to Rosyth for a £40 million refit
  • The aircraft carrier was guided back to Rosyth in bright sunshine
HMS Illustrious has arrived at Rosyth in preparation for a 13 month docking period due to start in March, and a £40 million refit.

This is the fifth refit to be undertaken by Babcock on the Invincible class aircraft carriers (CVS) and second to be carried out by the company's team on HMS Illustrious.

HMS Illustrious received a large number of upgrades during her last refit by Babcock in 2005, and will receive further work during this upkeep period.
