New container port plans received positive welcome
25 AugustA major new international container port at Rosyth has moved a step closer after plans to build the new faciilty received a positive response during a consultation period.
The consultation ended last week, and potential builder Babcock says it is "delighted" by the response to its plans. Over 150 people attending a public exhibition in Rosyth - and the company has received over 40 calls and submissions on its plans from statutory consultees and the public.
Port Babcock Rosyth proposes to build the terminal at the west end of the main basin at Rosyth dockyard.
The proposed new terminal will be located in the area of the RD57 dock which was built to refit the UK's fleet of Trident nuclear submarines but was never used after Rosyth lost the £5bn contract to refit the Trident fleet to English rival Devonport in 1993.
