Schools and Churches plan for Big Christmas switch-on in Rosyth …
Rosyth Schools and Churches are planning for a big night on Tuesday, 6th December 2011. That’s the day the Christmas lights are switched on in Rosyth and the Churches and Primary Schools will be gathering at 7. p.m, to celebrate around the Christmas tree and Stable scene in the garden of Rosyth Parish Church in Queensferry Road.
Rosyth Concert Band will be there to help with the Carol-singing. Sydney the Donkey, who was star of the Churches’ Palm Sunday walk, will visit – weather permitting. Children from the four local primary Schools will sing and act out the Christmas story.
The planning group which represents churches and schools is hoping the weather will be good enough to allow the whole event to happen outside. Contingency plans are being made so that if the weather is extreme, the event will be held in the Church hall.
Afterwards, there will be mince pies and tea for everyone, in the Church Hall.
On behalf of all the Churches working together a website has been launched to support the event. It can be seen at www.nativity.co.nr
Morag Crawford, Deaconess at the Parish Church said, “In spite of temperatures of 8 degrees last year over a hundred people turned out for a great initial event. I hope even more will come this year to see Sydney the donkey and the children, and begin their Christmas celebrations on a joyful note whatever the weather.”
