Thomas Docherty becomes Labour MP for Rosyth

Labour's Thomas Docherty is the new MP for Rosyth.

He replaces Liberal Democrat MP Willie Rennie, who took the Dunfermline and West Fife seat in a by-election in 2006.

Mr Docherty received 22,639 votes against Mr Rennie's 17,169.

The votes were as follows:

Re Willie Rennie, I've lived in Rosyth all my life and Rosyth has always been a Labour stronghold, there was a saying that if Labour put up a monkey for election it would get in. Well it all changed for a short time and Willie Rennie was the only MP that really looked after his constituents. Hope that we don't hear the last of him.
